Bottle. I was very impressed with this offering by A-B. Great dark color, wonderful spicy, malty flavor. Wouldn’t have known it was an A-B product if I hadn’t seen the bottle.

From Aug 2008
I got this from Mike at Poplar Wine & Spirits as a free sample!
Pours a hazy to cloudy rust brown colour with a solid 1 finger head of billowy foam.
The smell is nice with notes of clove, banana, some fruit, and some vanilla.
The taste has the clove & banana up front followed by light vanilla, and a slightly tart fruitiness that cuts through some of the spice nicely. A pretty good drinker that isn't overly complex but there are enough different flavours here to keep me interested.
It has a good medium mouthfeel and the carbonation just crawls into medium territory but not by much. A nice drop here and head retention is very good with some decent lacing.
Bottom line: I think this is a pretty good example of a Dunkelweizen and I could easily drink this again. Well done A-B.

Pours semi opaque amber with quick tan head. The meek aroma offers up only cherry fruit esteriness, faint grains and little else. The taste has plenty of interest. I get sweet over ripe cherry along with tart tannin cherry skins. It picks up a touch of cranberry to midway and then heads down to the finish with the addition of moldy dark fruit funkiness, grainy malts, cold moldy earthiness and then water thin body opening up lingering notes of cherry to cranberry juice. I love the funk, mold earthiness going on here but the fruitiness is a bit bright. Not sure how all that cherry and cranberry fits into the style. Interesting.

bottle. copper, fizzy off-white head. aroma, strong wheat nose, and plenty of cloves, yeasty and banana. flavors, experiment went a little wrong here, just overly grainy/wheat, way too much spices/cloves. Keeps a malty, yeasty and banana profile that is hindered by too much wheat but it all crumbles very quickly. Picked up some possible vanilla sweetness.

Bottle poured into a frosted glass: Yeast and clove nose, with banana notes underneath. Cloudy copper, headless. Light body. Flavor is weak clove. Slightly plastic finish. Needs more flavor.

Refrigerated bottle. Watery body and some head. Pours a dark brown. Taste is dark malts some sour clove and banana. Not a big fan, but a fair attempt at the style.

Bottle. Green banana, brown sugar, and sour milk aroma. Slightly hazy copper color with minimal head. Cherry, banana, clove, and wheat malt flavor. Pretty sweet. An okay beer - would have liked more of a malt flavor.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear amber with a medium frothy light tan head that diminishes quickly leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong clove banana and spice. Thin mouthfeel with a smokey clove and brown sugar and real grainy. Not much going on with this one.

12 oz bottle. This beer was tasted after drinking big beers from Grand Teton and Avery, and I realized my rating was affected by these huge, excellent, "true" craft beers. Anheuser-Busch has definitely created a good beer here, but the fact that it was created on an assembly line definitely shows here after trying these other remarkable beers. I remember trying this earlier in the year and being blown away by it. My rating would be much higher were it not for drinking such superior quality beforehand.
