Draft at Ginger man. Dark w/moderate head. Very little aroma in my glass. Taste was gingery coffeee. Not that successful IMO.

Brown with red tinges, and a modest but promising head. Smells like a damned shaker of nutmeg, though, which worries me greatly. Snow Bound tastes like a beer you’d want to drink exactly twice during the winter; any more and your blood might turn into egg nog. Sneaky potency, though, as the only sign of the beers elevated ABV is the growing fuzziness of my brain. Most assuredly an after-dinner beer, perfect for drifting off on the couch as the Lions lose again. (12/7/08)

22 oz. bottle, $4 at Sam’s before it became a Binny’s. Pours a deep mahogany brown, roils up a nice tan foamy head. Yes, a very spicy smell, starts with cinnamon-apple tart, nutmeg, and for a brief instance a bit of nose-cleansing wintergreen. Or I just imagined it. Yes, cardamon, to. Not an over done Belgian spice combo, but mainly a Christmas spice beer. Why change the name? Maybe because a Christmas beer might get marked down on Dec. 26. Taste is full of dark nutty malt and now I’m thinking about pumpkin pie spice, or maybe even mincemeat. Despite being a bit over spicy, it’s still a very drinkable beer, perhaps because the malt are quite smooth, hovering between a brown ale and a porter, and the alcohol is barely noticed. It turns out a bomber bottle was just enough, and usually I don’t need more than 12 ounces of a really spicy beer like this.

Bomber. Pours a very dark amber with a medium creamy light tan head that diminshes quickly leaving behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a dark fruit malt with raisin and spice. Medium mouthfeel with a spicy roasted malt taste with cinnamon and molasses. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink, a good spice brew from Left Hand.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a growler. The beer is a dark reddish-brown color with a medium thin and foamy light beige head that burns away quickly. Stringy lacing that slides down the glass. Aroma of powdered cinnamon and sweet malt. Medium body with sweet spice flavors along with some fruit and pine. The finish is all kinds of sweet spices with a bit of honey and fruit aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

On tap at the Bocktown, nice place. Fairly dark appearance with a nice creamy head. Barely any aroma, just a relatively clean beery olfactory. Not much if any carbonation on the palate. Taste is a little medicinal in nature. Some fermented fruit background with unidentifyable spices. Lingering alky finish, hangs around for a while. S5L3T4F1O7

courtesy of fishingnet Pours amber, beige head Aroma is sugary - honey - loaded with spices and ginger Taste. The ginger reminded me a lot of the bad experience I had with LF Juju ginger beer. Regardless of that, the beer is a fine enjoyable brew Loaded with sweet honey and ginger, cinnamon and other spices. There is plenty of spices to go about here.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a 1.5 finger head. Moderate retention and not so great lacing. Pungent aroma of caramel, toffee, citrus and gingery spice. Taste is nutty toffee with several spicy notes. Very subtle hoppiness. Medium bodied. Interesting beer.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours clear amber with deep copper edges and off white head. The aroma is full with dark fruity esters as well as a nice layer of spice containing ginger, cinnamon, cloves and all spice. I also get a mild malt, honey and caramel sweetness. It has an aggressively bold flavor with malt and caramel swirled honey sweetness followed by dark fruity esters. The load of spices enter about midway with ginger, cinnamon, cloves and all spice. The experience ends with remnants of the spice and caramel. I think the flavors are a little too bright and therefore I see room for improvement with age.
