During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

Bottle. I can really appreciate the attempt on this beer. It has a really nice vanilla aroma with a hint of spice. A nice dark "tea" like color. But where it fell down was the taste. It was almost right but was just off a little.

Poured from 12oz bottle a clear ruby red with a medium sized head of foam that shrunk fairly slowly leaving a solid layer.
The smell is on the light side but I can definitely sense some vanilla notes.
The taste up front is pretty huge on vanilla and after a few more sips, I don't notice any other flavours moving in. Pretty one dimensional judging from this one bottle I've consumed. Maybe another bottle closer to room temp will change my opinion. Also.. there is a bit of harshness on the tongue that I'm noticing at the finish which is knocking down the drinkability factor. Not good.
Bottom line: I was hoping for something reasonably respectable from this brew and I didn't get it. I'll not buy this again.

From a bunch of old notes I found. Pours a dark amber with almost no head. Aroma of sweet vanilla extract and a nice bit of oaky bourbon. Taste is the same. Lots of vanilla and a little bourbon. Light-medium bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not that bad. I can’t hate it that much because it was one of my introductions to craft beer.

Aged 1yr in fridge. Really brings out the "WTF were they thinking" notes

Bottle. Deep amber with almost no head. Light malt aroma and a hint of egg. Weak malt flavor with a hint of spice. I don’t get any bourbon/oak at all. Thin, watery mouth feel. Overall weak, pretty much what I expected from a large scale producer.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty bourbon and vanilla aroma. Sweetish malty caramel and vanilla flavor. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish with hints of bourbon and vanilla in the aftertaste.

I’m a sucker for snowmen, what can I say? Vanilla extract, sweet malts, chocolate, sugary molasses in the aroma. Clear amber/brown. It doesn’t tast too bad when pulled from the fridge but gets too sweet when it warms up a bit. Vanilla, molasses, and chocolate. Too much vanilla. Mediocre.

bottle, pours light amber with a thin to non existant off white head. Aroma is strong vanilla and sweet brown sugar. Sweet flavors almost like vanilla ice cream with little else going on. The sweetness tastes very artificial. Not a fan.

12 oz bottle. Very vanilla in aroma. Bourbon is faint. Also, cinnamon. Pours amber with minimal head, mediocre lacing. Extreme vanilla flavor. Very yummy, very different. Kind of watery, though. Lacks depth. Goes downhill with every drink. Gets more and more watery; especially so after half glass. Looks completely flat with no lacing halfway through. Weird beer--never have I ranked a beer so high in aroma and flavor, yet so low in appearance and palate, and then an average overall.

Leather nose. Clear copper pour with a medium tan head. Flavor is of leather and caramel malt. Cherry finish. Alcohol becomes intrusive upon warming. Nice twist on a red ale. Not very dynamic, but it’s enjoyable.
