Bottle 75 cl. Slightly hazy golden with a dense white head. Fresh aroma of citrus and yeast. Medium body, lots of fruity, wheaty accents, yeast and phenols. Has a vague fusty edge. Dry finish, more phenollic than hoppy. 300809

Pours a really cloudy pale yellow, with a frothy white head. Aroma is totally full of a dry banana aroma and a bunch of spices. Taste is fruity and somewhat tart, with a little bit of the Belgian bitter charm. Banana is the prominent fruit flavor. A bunch of yeast is in there as well. Overall, rather tasty and a good example of a well made and unique Belgian ale.

750ml corked bottle. Pours a deep tan-orange color with a big effervescence and accompanying head. Sweet hoppy bitterness in the aroma. Great mouthfeel typical of Unibroue, big and yeasty and completely mellow and refined. I detect some banana and clove in the creamy yeast. An almost sour finish laced with the mellowness of warming alcohol. This is a great beer all way, a delicious Belgian Golden Ale.

Hazy blonde. Spicy aroma with some bready character and paint-like phenols. Spicy, smooth. There’s a soft sweetness to it that carries the spice well. It’s quite pleasant, but I can’t say that it transcends the sameness of the Unibroue yeast.

Bouteille 750ml.

Bottle from Whole Foods, Short Pump on 10/17/2008. Slightly hazy golden body with a large frothy off-white head with some belgian lace. Sweet spicy and fruity aroma with some banana and yeasty hints. Very fruity flavor, more banana and yeasty notes, lots of spices, and a decent sugary finish. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a very hazy yellow-golden color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was tart, yeasty, bready, musty and spicy with sweet fruits - pear and pineapple. The flavor was yeasty, chewy and tat with ripe fruits, bubblegum, clove and a wheaty undertone. A touch must underneath. The finish was long, yeasty bubblegum, clove and anise. Thick and chewy. Very nice.
