Hottenroth Berliner Weisse is brewed in memory of Fred & Sarah Hottenroth, Patrick’s grandparents. This tart, German-style Berliner Weisse is as authentic as it gets. We use lactobacillus and a hint of brettanomyces to sour this very unusual, low gravity wheat beer. To cut the tartness for those with sweeter tastes, raspberry or woodruff syrup is a traditional way to sweeten the beer, but here we took the liberty to add pureed peaches for a sweet fruity hint right in the bottle.

[9/24/15] Bottle sample at the pre-Borefts tasting at ABC Beers in Den Haag. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Cloudy yellow. Great sourish lactic aroma with some peaches. Sour flavor, lactic, with peaches. Light-bodied. Really good and refreshing.

Pre Borefts Tasting at ABC Beers, Den Haag. Hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mildly crisp. Tangy lemon with a little orange pith, some spice. Pretty modest peach. Light dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle split at the ABC Beers pre Borefts tasting, 24/09/15. Hazed orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is tarte peach, funk strokes, damp straw, light spice Taste comprises tangy peach, apricot, lemon rind, hay. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light acidity. Decent peach ’Linner.

Bottle at ABC Beers Pre-Borefts Tasting, The Hague. Pours cloudy pale yellow golden with a ring white head. Aroma of citrus, light tart fruits and a little funk. Flavour is light moderate sour and salty. Light to light medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of bytemesis, thank you sir! Cloudy to murky golden yellow color, white coca cola head. Aroma of dusty peach fuzz, navel lint, dirty sweaty feet, wet socks. Taste is peachy, earthy, sweet and sour, with a feety finish. Interesting.
