Bottle shared by Chris on 7/23/16.
Clear, honey-apricot golden body is topped by an immediately-receding, white head.
There is some deep brett goodness here; lime and very light band-aid but it’s muted and lies beneath cereal grain and light cider notes. Warming shows more sweet grains and lots of cider.
Cidery, with tartness and light bacterial influences. Lots of brett tartness, green apple, lime and such. Very, very dry. The brett has completely eaten through the beer leaving an extremely attenuated, overly dry, lightly cidery beverage in its place. Still, it’s clean and with no alcohol and the malt flavors are enjoyable, though it’s a bit hard to see through the cidery character.
Was hoping this would have held up better as I so wanted to try it, but that certainly can happen with brett. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s too bad it wasn’t mashed a little warmer to create some more body and harder to ferment sugars. A less than 3 year-old saison isn’t exactly old, relative to the style. Anyways, will concede some points to what it must have been before the brett really went crazy.

New school inoculated dry aspirin aroma. Lemony biting saison notes. Really intense flavors. Funky barnyard notes. The dry test tube tones detract from an otherwise unique and enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Cage broke, which was a pain. Cork was self ejecting, which I fortunately caught in time. After all that, it was NOT a gusher though. Pours crystal clear golden orange, large white head, dissipates fairly slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is dusty, very dusty, Brett and hay. Flavor is medium tart, very dry, lemon and light funk. Light body, high carbonation.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you biggsbowler! Pours tiny hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and slightly funky with crackers, pineapple, passion fruit, star fruit, gooseberries, hay, dry soil, barnyard, orange zest, lemon zest and minerals. Taste is sour, fruity and funky with crackers, lemon juice, blood orange juice, lime juice, passion fruit, gooseberries, unripe mango, hay, dry soil, barnyard, minerals and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, tart and light bodied. Finish is slightly sour, fruity and funky with crackers, blood orange juice, lemon juice, passion fruit, star fruit, hay, dry soil, gooseberries, barnyard, minerals and lemon zest. Fruity funky perfection! even at this age it’s marvelous!

Corked bottle, courtesy of Matt (mcberko)
Hazy deep blond color, generous head. Nice fruity aroma, delicate, apricot, light spices, very light smoke. Smooth mouthfeel, highly carbonated, rather dry, funky, a bit fruity, mildly astringent.
Very interesting.

750mL bottle, sent from Gregg657 (thanks a lot, man), pours a cloudy golden orange with a medium white head. Nose brings out loads of white pepper, brett, farmhouse notes, and more white pepper. Flavour brings out lots of brett notes, some white pepper, some slight tartness from the brett, and dry biscuity notes. Very bretty, lightly tart, and peppery. Carbonation is medium-to-high. Excellent stuff.

Bottle shared at the BIG Friday tasting, from an IP trade thanks to Frank from PA, 03/01/14. Murky orange amber with a thin off white covering that clears to a pond and spotting. Nose is bitter apricot, tangy citric fruit, straw, light brett notes. Taste comprises light funk, lemon rind, orange pith, sharp tangerine, tarte apricot, hay, barnyard. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grassy closure, delivered crisp and clean. Nice saison.
