3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze is a blend of one-, two-, and three-year old lambics. Spontaneous fermentation, patient maturation in oak barrels, and continued evolution of the ecosystem in the bottle result in a distinctively complex and elegant natural beer. No two bottlings are alike, as there are multiple variables in the blending process, a variety of barrel sizes and shapes, differences in aged lambic proportions in the blend, etc. When cellared properly, 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze can be aged for several decades. The aromas and flavours will evolve from notes of vibrant fresh citrus, zesty and grassy notes to a mellow, oaky, stone fruit bouquet as the lambic continues to develop with time. Lambic and Geuze are living, cultural heritage rooted in the Zenne valley! Taste, savour, enjoy and experience this bottle fermented, unfiltered, unpasteurised and unadulterated beer with friends new and old!

From the bottle at a tasting at Beer Out, Forlì, Italy. Pours light amber, medium transparent, with no foam. Aroma is funky, resinous, fruity. Body is slightly thin, with no carbonation. Taste is medium-high sour, a little acetic. Final is fairly long and sour.

Bottle sampled thanks to kermis. Hazy orange golden with white head. Nice funk, apricot, nice sourness but not overdone. Great!

Fairly hazy golden orange with a big lively white head following the pour. Aroma has that lovely 3F dry cellar funk, cobwebs, woody notes, citrus, green apple and light malt. Flavour is light moderate sweet and sour. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Damn glad I had the foresight back in the day to lay a bunch of these down!

Bottles 20-11-2014. Yearly sample of the batch bottled when I became a Couple with amina (23-11-2014) . This year ( drank for the 4th time in 2019 ) has the best taste i've had this far. It started of as citrussy earlier on, but by now has developed a nice woody flavor, funky, tart, milder fruityness. Very dry finish. Carbonation is still a tad high, but the beer has definately rounded out over time. Curious to see how this will have evolved by next year :)
Researching backlog. I had this in 2015
Peachy lemony oaky delish.

Bottle at the DC Expanded Sour Tasting. This is pretty amazing and I’m shocked I haven’t had this one yet. Wow. Poured a cloudy, orange pour with a nice fluffy off-white head. Aroma was subtle tartness, with a nice lemony zest note. There’s a bit of dust on this one, a touch of funky barn in there that produces a very intersting, highly drinkable, very complex beer. I can see why this is a gold standard of geuze.
