Bottle from Boise Co-op . Opened without a pop. Flat pour. Cellared for 2.5 years. This bottle didn't hold up. Aroma is plums and raisins, some of the cognac. Taste goes down from here, a bit tart. Would have been great in its prime.

Bottle, 2016 edition. Brown pour. Aroma of raisin, boozy orange, malt, caramel and cedar wood. Taste has soft raisin, vanilla, cedar, orange, mild booze, caramel, malt and some spices. Nice elegant quad, the grand marnier works well.

2016 bottle. Dark brown, small beige head. Dried fruit, malt, wood and a little dark sugar and chocolate in the aroma. Boozy with light yeasty notes too. Caramely flavour, dried fruit and nice boozy warmth. Very light notes of sweet orange in the finish.

Bottle at the 11th Brugge beer Festival, Brugge, Belgium. A murky dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet, orange, caramel, dark fruit on the nose. Tastes similar, sweet, orange, caramel, dark fruit, warming and boozy. Very nice on a freezing cold day in Brugge.

10 April 2022. At 14de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!

Presumably the 2015 version again. Impressions of dried orange peel, candied plum, raisin, fig, triple sec, vanilla. Taste has sweet raisin, fig & plum; caramelly malt base supporting herbal & bittersweet orange peel notes. Herbal hoppy finish, woody, dried fruits, warming triple sec alcohol. Medium to full body, oily-syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Enjoyable still so no need to alter the score.

Original rating: 8/4/8/4/16=4.0. 4 February 2018. At 11de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter!

Hazy brown with a frothy, beige head. Aroma of green apple, pear, orange liqueur, malt, sugar and vanilla. Tastes medium fruity sweet and light to medium hoppy/woody bitter; woody, nice, alcoholic finish. Full body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Strong, but never exaggerated. Good stuff.

From a 375 ml bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with an ecru head. Aromas are caramel, toffee, and fruit cake. Flavor is pretty sweet, dominated by caramel malts, with a hint of oak barrel. Pretty tasty.

Tap. Hazy brown. Stable ivory-coloured head. Aroma: lots of pleasant esters, nuts, rich malts, fruit, just a hint of tannins. Medium to full body. Light to medium sweetness. Malty, nutty. Vinous, fruity. Light bitterness. Perfect balance. Delicious.
