The Farang is a thai style tripel. Where the adding of galanga (a Thai version of ginger root) in this beer stimulates the spicyness, this is none the less a very easy drinkable.
Originally designed for a Thai restaurant. This beer travels all over the world

15cl draught, glass on a tasting tray in Le Trappiste, Brugge: late Nov 2016. I could not detect any ’fresh galangal’ which tastes like ginger apparently. Slight haze to the copper/amber body, small white head. Floral nose, yeasty and alcoholic feel to the taste which did not carry much flavour, a bit of dark toffee maybe. Strange one this, difficult to score.

F: big, white, good retention. C: coopery, hazy. A: malt, orange, herbal, grassy, peach, yeast, spicy, hint of ginger. T: malt, orange, light ginger, grassy, spicy, herbal, peach, medium body, good carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, quite herbal tones but I like it, 0,33l bottle from Poperinge Beerfestival 2016.

Draft.

Hazy medium to deep amber colour, small foamy off-white head, dissipates quickly mostly diminishing, light lacing. Spicy aroma, ginger, laos/galanga, toasted malts, fruity notes, some caramel. Taste medium sweet and bitter, herbs and spices, light toffee. Bittersweet aftertaste, spices linger on. medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, interesting brew.

Hazy blond with no head. Aroma and flavour are very strong with what seems like rosehip. Sticky and sweet.

savoured at Bab 2016, thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours blonde, small white head. Smell is overly spiced. I have no clue what Galanga is, but there simply is to much of it. Taste is sharp, bit bitter, very spiced. OK, but I expected more of it.
