33cl bottle (2011 vintage) from Struise shop in Brügge. Pours very dark brown with a rather small, beige head. Rather vinous aroma dominated by dried grapes, some wooden notes, hints of malt and spices. Sweet and sour with raisin flavour and a long acidic finish. Complex and quite interesting. Rather heavy stuff, but certainly a pleasant sipper.

2011 bottle. Appearance- very dark ruby/mahogany, a big tan head that quickly diminishes into a half-finger. Aroma- big sourness, sour cherry, wet wood, ammonia, fruitcake, liqueur chocolates, Christmas pudding, vinegar, red wine. Taste- loads of sour fruit, cherries especially, with some raspberry, apple, and hints of fermented dark fruit. Oaky, slightly tart, rhubarb crumble, red wine. Sticky sour finish. Intensely flavoured, gets better as it warms.

330 ml 2011 vintage, bottled 09/2014, from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Dark, redish-brown body, with a small, fizzy, dissipating, beige head.
Aroma of oak, red wine, overripe fruits, dried fruits, vanilla, sweet and sour berries, some leather.
Taste with a lot of oak, sour red wine, sour fruits, overripe fruits, leather, some vinegar.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes dry, wooden, acidic, sour fruity, leathery.

Very nice. The nose is really lovely, with a great balance between oak notes, sweetness and sourness. The taste is pretty much dominated by strong oak and sour vinous notes and therefore feels quite heavy. Characterful, but not among my favourite beer of this style.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Vintage 2011. at 8% abv. Dark ruby, almost black. Dark short-lived frothy head. Thea aroma is rich dried sour cherries, vinous and acetic, stale marc. The taste is not that bright and young, but rather restrained and mature - a balance between acetic, vinouse and dried cherry sweetness. The dry oaky finish is quite strong, followed by a light acetic byte. Very good.
