Cask at In De Wildeman. Pours near black with a bubbly tan head. Aroma of malt, oak, light smoke, roast and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. It’s packing loads of fudge in the finish. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Duke of York; dark brown pour with a thin bubbly tan head, roast malt aroma, taste has roast malt, dark fruits, a hint of coffee and smoke.

Cask handpull at Pembury Tavern, London. Beer of the festival for me. Black with ruby edges, lasting tan head. Good roasty nose. Some charcoal, liquorice. Nice choc. Somewhere between a dark mild and a porter.
