Buenos dias, amigos: Mexican Coffee is an imperial stout blended with coffee, cinnamon, and sent out for an extended vacation inside reposado tequila barrels. The result is rich and roasty with a kiss of tequila; just like a classic cafe mexicano.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/30/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, cinnamon, honey, agave, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, tequila, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, toffee, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted/oaky earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, cinnamon, tequila barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, cinnamon, honey, agave, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, tequila, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, toffee, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted/oaky earthiness. Very mild herbal, grass, pepper, roast, char bitterness; and cinnamon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, cinnamon, honey, agave, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, tequila, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, dark/brown bread, licorice, molasses, toffee, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, cinnamon, tequila barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a fantastic roasted bitter/sweet and cinnamon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth 11.3%, and lingering cinnamon/tequila heat. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged flavored imperial stout! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, cinnamon, tequila barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/spicy/drying finish; amazingly soft/silky feel for the ABV. Perfectly balanced super rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, cinnamon, and tequila barrel presence/integration. Mild hops/fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier quality style example. Probably the best tequila barrel aged beer I've ever had. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

Some off aroma in the beginning, reall boozy and some trashzlike aroma. A little coffee and chile, chocolate as well and lots of booze. Black pour with ok head and lacing. Very sweet boozy finish. Not my thing. Tap at brewery.

Bottle thanks to Homer! Pours clear black, medium beige head, good lacing. Aroma is loaded with spices, cinnamon stands out, coffee present as well, plenty of cocoa, hints of nutmeg. Not getting cinnamon - is this really BA? If so why are there two versions in the DB? A bit lacking in body, but otherwise captures the essence of a Mexican coffee without going completely overboard. Pretty solid.

This is amazing. Thick head and flavor. Very unique, tastes just like Mexican coffee, tons of chocolate and cinnamon and coffee.

Darkish brown. No head...the oils from the chocolate are probably killing that. The aroma is fairly big cinnamon with chocolate...maybe even those roasted almonds the Mexicans sneak into their chocolate. Rich chocolate taste...milk chocolate, which is not Mexican at all, with light cinnamon and only vague pepper. Not necessarily as rich as I would like, but ultimately it is about rich, in terms of body, as a Mexican chocolate actually is. So overall, I like it richer but I do like the style they are pursuing here. It works, without clubbing the drinker over the head.
