Xyauyù Barrel is the result of a “wicked idea” of Teo’s and years of research. It is a top-fermented beer which has gone through macrooxidation and has been aged in oak rum barrels to give it scents of dates, caramel and a delicate wooden note. When poured, it has no head and no gas; it has a dark color with copper nuances.

100mL bottle pour at Baladin Camden, pours a deep dark mahogany, no head. Aroma is subtly rum-forward, with complex dark fruits, toffee, caramelized sugars, mmm. Flavour is remarkably rich and refined, with lots of high-quality rum presence, some wood, toffee, dark fruits, and a tinge of soy sauce. Certainly one of the best rum barrel aged beers I've had, if not the best. Wonderful.

On tap. Pours a very dark mahogany with no head. Aromas of dark caramel, oak, tobacco, bourbon and toasted malts. Flavors follow same; nicely integrated. Warm finish. Excellent.

Bottled. Rubyish brown colour with a small off white head. Aroma is alcohol, some berries, fruits, mild toffee and some sweet nectary and nutty tones. Flavour is quite boozy with some Madeira sweetness, wood, some toffee, a bit alcohol and a bit berries and fudgeish caramel to it.

[10/14/13] Draught at Open Baladin in Rome. 13.5%. Lovely deep red amber color. Big malty aroma, somewhat alcoholic, with lots of dark fruits, vinous notes, some wood and caramel. Sweet malty flavor with dark fruits, liqueur, toffee, caramel, a bit of vanilla, cookie notes and warming alcohol. Medium to full-bodied, kinda oily. A nice Barley Wine.

500ml bottle. 2013 & 2016 vintages. Heavy, intense with prunes and figs with some sherry and port notes. Still not the biggest fan of these. 2016 is a bit better than 2013. More stingy wood and raisin notes.
