Bottled shared at Farewell to Ferndale Share. Thanks to whoever brought this one! Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown head that lingers. Lovely blueberry, bourbon and almond aromas on the nose. Sweet, but blueberry provides a bit of counter balance with the bourbon underneath. Smooth finish with roasted malt, fig, almond and blueberry wrapped up in a bourbon kiss. Pretty good at 5 years old.

Bottle shared by Brian at the 4/2022 PS tasting. Dark brown thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of tart blueberry, mint, roast. Taste is almond, roast, blueberry, bourbon. Thin. Marzipan dominates the beer. Not great.

Bottle (2017) pour in bottle share with AirForceHops--thanks for the opportunity, Chris! Appearance is opaque, dark brown--virtually black--no sparkle, nice viscosity, thin cap of light brown head with poor retention and spotty lacing. Aroma is strong blueberry, marzipan, roasted malt, milder chocolate. Taste is strong blueberry, followed by marzipan, roasted malt and bourbon, with hint of chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation, nice alcohol warmth, and finish as taste. Overall, not as complex as the vanilla bourbon version and may have lost a little something over another year, but really damn good.

From bottle to tulip. Pours jet black with brown head that is minimal and fades to a collar of small bubbles. Dark chocolate and dusted cocoa. Faint licorice. Boozy chocolate with blueberry in the background supporting the main components. Velvety mouthfeel. Fruit has a slightly artificial flavor to it as it warms.

Sampled from the tap at GTMW 2019. Pours black with a creamy brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of bourbon, dark grains, roasted malts and a bit of dark fruit undlerying. Flavor has sweet dark grains, a nice bourbon, some roasted malts and a bit of bitterness.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet chocolate notes with some strong almond paste notes and light blueberry notes. Taste is a great mix of sweet chocolate notes with some blueberry notes with some strong almond paste notes and light bourbon notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Enjoyable but almond paste notes overshadows the other flavours.
