To those who’ve tasted it, our barrel-aged Sour in the Rye ale is an instant classic. To those of you about to take a sip of this limited “POG juice” edition, get ready to be transported to the tropics. Passionfruit, orange and guava join forces for a refreshing, juicy and bright combination with the rye spice notes of the base beer, all while basking in careful balance with the honey, vanilla and woody character imparted from barrel-aging. Enjoy relaxing and sipping on this one with your friends, and think up a clever game or two with the bottlecap when you do.

Poured from a 750 ml, 2017 vintage bottle. Aroma is fruity with guava dominating followed orange and passion fruit. Light oak notes and a bit of a rye character. Some fruity notes from the fermentation as well - lemon, pineapple and cherry pie. Pours a copper brown with some orange hues and a medium sized, thick, slightly tan head that recedes steadily to the edges where it disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly acidic, but only slightly sharp with a light sweetness to it. Moderately strong orange and guava notes with lighter passion fruit. Light oak and hints of alcohol. A light rye and grain note. Light lemon, pineapple and cherry as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer. Acidity is not as sharp as I remember and the fruit, while dulled is still rather present.

Bottle: poured a hazy/cloudy bright orange color ale with a large foamy head with light retention and not much lacing. Aroma of strong tart notes with tons of fruit flavours such as orange and guava. Taste is a mix of strong tart notes with some light acid notes with loads of orange and guava notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Enjoyable even though is quite intense flavour-wise. It could have benefited form less aggressive sour notes.

750ml bottle. Pours orange brown. Passionfruit, guava, pineapple, biscuit, orange peel, strong tart acetic and citric acid characters, strong tart passionfruit, touch of peppery spice, mouth puckeringly sour. Nice carbonation, good body. Excellent. Very tart but nicely balanced with the fruit.
