Bottle at the Masonic Arms, Kirkcudbright. Golden yellow, clear with generous carbonation. Sour lemon and yeasty aromas, but the taste is special: sweet, intensely honeyed with enough of a yeasty/malty backbone to remind you this is a beer, not Pooh’s alcoholic Hunny Pot. Massive but appropriate carbonation on the palette.

Kolor: ciemno złoty, herbaciany.
Piana drobno pęcherzykowa, w kolorze złamanej bieli, nie utrzymuje się zbyt długo, pozostawia lekki film na powierzchni trunku.
Aromat niezbyt intensywny, nieco owocowy, nuty jabłek i słodycz charakterystyczna dla miodu. Wszystko to dość delikatne i nie nachalne.
W smaku jest tylko miód, ale w ilości umiarkowanej, nie jest zbyt słodko. Goryczka znikoma taka jak przy mocnej herbacie, z każdym łykiem na finiszu jest mocniejsza.
Generalnie Barbar nie przesadza w żadną stronę, alkohol dobrze ukryty, pije się lekko i z przyjemnością.

Classic and typical Belgian honey beer with hazy deep golden blonde colour and medium off-white, sticky, creamy head. Sweet, with noticeable unfermented honey, peach, candied orange, bready, slick malt sweetness enhanced by the honey, spicy hints, yeasty finish with some grassy hops and warming alcohol as well as lingering sweetness. This is probably Lefebvre’s most influential beer and a reference when it comes to Belgian honey beers, but too sweet and alcoholic for my tooth.

Bottle at Th Fiddler. Pours clear golden brown with a white head. Aroma of honey, light fruits, belgian yeast and light herbal notes. Flavour is over moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Honey nose. Clear deep golden colour, a lot of bubbles, two finger long lasting frothy white head, fair lacing. Strong sweet honey aroma, yeast, hint of ginger, woody notes, citrus. Taste is smooth medium sweet and slightly bitter, some honey. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, aftertaste medium sweet, slightly bitter, ginger and citrus notes.
