Three thousand feet above sea level in the misty mountains of Jamaica, some of the worlds finest Arabica beans are hand picked on their way to becoming Blue Mountain Coffee. Halfway around the world, plump spring barley grows to maturity in the loamy soil of North America while aromatic hops are cutivated to exacting standards. Here in our kettles, these three special ingredients are blended to create a heady mixture of sweet sugar, dark roast, and complex flavor. Please enjoy this brew in moderation.

Bottle shared with Iphonephan. Dark mahogany pour, light brown frothy head and patterned lacing. This beer is all about coffee and malt. A lovely malty aroma and coffee all the way in the flavour. Just a hint of bitterness which sticks around for a while on the palate. Needs to be served at room temperature to fully appreciate. An excellent ale if you can find it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Stags Head ST night. I prefer this stout to the mokah as its not as sweet. Pours jet black with purplish brown lacing. Nice nose of coffee and chocolate. tastes of rich coffee, chocolate, earth, molasses, spruce, and some wood. Its got good coffee bitterness which i like

Older Vintage with a painted label, I believe the bottle is from 2007 12% abv. Pours a solid black with a huge tan head that has great retention and lots of foamy lace. Smells of caramel and chocolate with hints of dark dried fruits a little bit of licorice and a slightly earthy edge in there as well. If there’s coffee in there its faded into the background enough that it just seems like roasted grains now. The taste is like a big thick imperial stout. Lots of roasted grains and caramel and chocolate along with a fair amount of raisins and cherries. There’s a nice warming alcohol as well as a bit of ash and a hint of bitter coffee bean flavor. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a thick sweet creamy grainy mouthfeel. Nice brew, but the aging probably didn’t help it much. The coffee aroma and flavor is all but gone but I think the body thinning effect of using coffee beans is still there. I’ve had this several times and I think this one is a bit past its prime, but I’m curious now to sit down and do a proper review on a fresher bottle.

22oz bomber poured into a snifter. Pours black with about a quarter finger of tan head. Aroma of coffee, light caramel and roasty malt. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Coffee and caramel. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, awesome. I would love to drink this again.

Draft at Beer Temple. Black pour with a very small tan head. Aroma is massive coffee with roasted malt and chocolate. Flavour is big coffee at first, going into roasted malts and a long dark chocolate finish. Thick oily body and very soft carbonation.

On tap at Beer Temple. Almost black, beige head. Aroma of sweet rye, bread, light coffee with sugar, quite sweet. Flavour is rather sweet as well, rye, sugar, chocolate, coffee with sugar and milk, light roast. Medium bodied. Too sweet imo, more like a baltic porter/bock.

Bottle from Great Grog, Edinburgh
Black, no light through, thin tan head dissipates to rim, some lacing
Aroma of dark rich sweet soft roasted malts, some sweet chocolate, bit of smooth coffee, quit a bit of alcohol on the nose
Taste of sweet dark rich malts, soft roast malts, sweet dark sugars, soft good quality coffee but quite subdued, sweet dark chocolate, blended well, alcohol quite noticeable, not particularly complex
Palate - soft carb, full body, sweet quite boozy, smooth. Finish as main flavour with warming alcohol, rich smooth dark malts, light smooth sweet roast coffee, alcohol burn at back.
Overall - Taste not as complex as expected and alcohol quite noticeable. Coffee was quite subdued. The Choklat is considerably better than this. Might be better when its fresh.
