Nice dark brown coloured body with a thin, fast-dying light brown head. Aroma of coffee grounds, nuts, earth, pit fruits and a bit of raisins, but the spent coffee is definitely noticeable. Medium to Light-bodied; Strong assertive coffee flavour up front with not much malt to support it - a touch thin on the finish, with some caramel, nuts and musty notes right behind. Aftertaste shows the coffee, a touch of alcohol and very little else - no real malts either nor any sort of complexity. Overall, quite poor, as it’s solely one-dimensional with no complexity nor variance in flavours - thin malt and coffee, that’s it to this one. I love coffee, but this didn’t do it for me. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Eye Street, Foggy Bottom), DC on 05-February-2015 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington on 10-January-2016, about a year after purchasing.

Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth bubbly head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee, hints of cocoa, chocolate and hints of espresso. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and sweet with some cocoa, coffee, espresso and chocolate. Finish is smooth, slightly sweet and roasty with some coffee and mocha notes. Okay.

Bottle at Imazato. Dark black with a lovely 1 cm head of dense tan foam. A big nose of full on coffee. The taste lives up to the nose: coffee. A bit of a one note beer but it’s one hell of a delicious note!

Oh my, from a bottle this is a really dark beer with a thin choko moose head. Big coffee flavors fer sure on the first bite. Can make you think you are drinken a cold coffee from outside of western PA around groundhog day. Does not necessarily smell like the way it tastes. Smells like very light coffee on the nose. Yes, roll up the ol’ sleeves dude. Does have a bitter coffee thing on the finish, go figger.

Pours black with red highlights; has a beige fluffy head with excellent retention and lace. Taste is sweet and roasty with strong coffee and chocolate flavors. Creamy texture, medium body. Really tasty.

A hint of coffee, adds some extra bitterness to this sweet stout. Elements of dark chocolate and burnt toast, black, slippery body, small beige creamy head, aroma of semi-sweet dark chocolate. All around smooth and drinkable.
