Mayhaps an odd comment but one I'm gonna make anyway, and that's that the scratchy label on this thing did indeed say "right kind of thing" but really I was too drunk/tired/ and not interested to notice, which ended up requiring much more ire than usual in tracking it down on ratebeer. Please, brewers, think of the durnk people! (spelling intended). How can we possibly read your labels when we're three sheets to the wind? This has a modest head and okay orange body, industry standard, gold even, not winning any awards in my book though I'll reluctantly give them the valet keys for my skidoo to get that oh so nice valét parking. The aroma is plenty of wet mandarin orange, pineapple, juicy juice juice; oh yeah, nice stuff, but still standard. The flavour is big citrus, I know the hippies hate Big Citrus but I've always found their products satisfactory. Mouthfeel is nicely oily, good crispfps finish. Really nice actually, no hint of that huge ABV in the beer. Probably performs well for its style and I can respect that, but the businessman in me wonders how they are really going to sell this to a beer-tired population which is what Vancouver is; a dozen brewers all doing stuff as good as them? Great for us, but carving your own corner of this market must be tough. Gotta get my attention somewhere else Powell, I know you're adept but no one else will by cranking out forgetttable standards. Miles Davis learned that a few decades ago, too.

Draft pour at Powell. Bright, shiny golden orange pour. Mixed orange fruit and sweat aroma. Just a touch off for me. Flavor is a little better. Bitter, boozy orange fruit, bitter fruit hops, and a long lingering malty finish. Not my style of IPA here, for sure.

2016-08-12. On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy golden with a huge white head. Aroma is tropical fruits hops. Same character sweet taste and aftertaste but with very low level of bitterness. Good beer, but not enough bitterness even as for an IPA, let alone IIPA... Is this a reason for no IBU on the desk for only this beer at the tasting room? :-)

2017-12-26. Taster at the brewery. Pours a clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma is strange with cheesy notes. Similar taste with some floral botes and piney bitterness. Damn, it did not become better.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of citrusy and bitter notes are really dominant. Taste is also dominated by loads of citrusy notes with load of bitter notes with solid malt base. Body is full with good carbonation. Not bad but taste more like one of those early days IIPA with loads of bitterness upfront.

Hazy amber. Hops, some nice Meyer lemon nose, clementines, chewy pale malt richness, and a touch of alcohol. Sweet, quite so, with pale malt chewiness, and a lemon/blood orange character.

Draft - Fresh and fruity, tropical fruits and citrus. Clear gold with a rich white head. Intense bitterness throughout, with a pith citrus finish. A little overwhelming on the bitterness. But still nice.

Draught at the brewery, 12oz
Cloudy orange color with small compact head. Delicate aroma of toffee, followed by citrusy and resiny hops, then it’s a crescendo into more hops and a musky and manure impression. The mouthfeel is bold but rather dry, which helps the drinkability; the malt profile is average, leaves room for the hop explosion, seriously bitter, with an animal character, very resiny, and some citrus fruit and bitter oranges in the final, when it also reveals a sweet core.
Excellent.

On tap at Powell Street, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma packs a punch of piney and resinous hops, with a decent biscuity malt backing. Flavour is huge on skunky herbal hops, very pot-like, with some citrusy juiciness, and just enough malt to back. Really robust and beautifully balanced. All of the 150 IBUs are showing, but it's not too overburdening. Wonderful stuff - excellent.
