Bottle. Almost black. Aroma: roasted malt, chocolate and coffee with a hint of hops. Taste has the same shades, light sweetness, good texture.

Certainly a proper stout, and among the better beers I’ve had from Rogue. Coffee and sharp oat with big roast. Pours jet black with mocha head and lacing. Medium bitter finish. Thick oily texture. Bottle.

Draught @ Stag’s Head. Inky black with small creamy beige head, faint coffee aroma, low carbonation, bitter coffee beans taste, long bitter finish. I missed the chocolate aftertaste, feeling just the bitterness. Very good stout, simple and straightforward.

Handpump @Buskers Pub (Rome). Deep black, unclear, massive beige foam. Aroma is nuts, chocolate, alcol, coffee notes and liquorice, so intense. Flavour is powerful, chocolate, coffee with liquorice and bitter end. Medium to high body, flat, rich. Very good!

Appearance is pretty much pitch black, values hint of brown around the edges. A half-finger brown/tan head which doesn’t last long. Aroma- milk chocolate, dark malts, slight roast, coffee, vanilla, brown sugar. Taste- dry roasty notes hit first, bitter chocolate, cold coffee, roast dark malts, quite full and a bit creamy in the mouth, roasty, bitter finish slightly reminiscent of burnt toast, with a hint of vanilla. Nice stout.

On tap at Popeye in Tokyo. Served in a shaker half pint. Sorghum black color with a nice toasted marshmallow colored foamy head. Roasted coffee and sweet malty and chocolate aroma. Creamy mouthfeel and finish. Well-balanced malt toastiness and hop bitterness. Long aftertaste with hints of chocolate.
