Horny Devil is our interpretation of a Belgian-style Golden Ale. Brewed with authentic Belgian ingredients including candi sugar and a Trappist yeast strain, its fruity and spicy aromas include notes of orange, banana, and peppercorns. Coriander seeds add refreshing citrus notes which meld seamlessly with the beer’s delicate malt. Horny Devil finishes with a lively carbonation and a refreshingly dry finish.

Bottle sampled at Den Haag bottle share at Brody’s. Almost clear golden with white head. Quite some spicy yeast, sweet vanilla apple, sweet sugary malts, light alcohol, soft bread, milky, soft corn, custard. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied with quite some carbonation.

19th December 2017. Ordered as part of a Flight in Crush & Brew, Temecula. Really pleased to see this, as I have wanted to try it for some time. Light golden pour, wispy head. sweet taste with coriander flavours within. If I hadn't known what it was I would have labelled it as 'Tramp Juice' because of it's sweetness and obvious alcohol level. Glad I've tried it, glad I didn't have to drink a lot though.

From Sep 2006

Pours from foiled and capped 750ml a clear medium gold which turns to cloudy (further in to the bottle) with lots of bubbles and a medium sized head of foam that shrank very quickly leaving a fine layer with lacing.

The smell is very lemony and spicy with notes of yeast and a pretty strong nose of alcohol.

The taste, up front, is a very citric bitter/sour with the "mentioned on the label" Coriander and has notes of bread but... it's also very sweet, a Malt Liquor kind of sweetness...my initial impression is that the flavours aren't meshing very well together.

After a few more sips, I'm starting to "see" and appreciate the harmony that *is* actually there and this becomes a fine sipper. The sweetness that I complained about earlier is now well balanced and in fact taken over by the spice and citrus from the hops.

Oh and yes, there's certainly some warming from this 11%abv but Alesmith did a pretty fine job of hiding it. I might have to get some more of this for, what I'm sure will be, the upcoming harsh winter that is due here in Casper.

Bottom line: My initial impression was so-so but the more I sipped on this Belgian Strong Pale Ale, the more it pleased my palate. My hat's off to Alesmith once again!

Taster at Rogues Convention Center during the Alesmith Canadian Sales start event with Slack guys. Pours a hazy pale golden with a weak white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, slightly earty, very similar to Belgian Saison, but more strong. Tastes is similar, like strong Belgian Saison. Very nice.
