Grutte Pier dankt zijn naam aan de heldhaftige verhalen van de vrijheidsstrijder en volksheld die rond 1517 Friesland beschermde tegen de Hollanders. Pier Gerlofs Donia was zijn naam en door zijn reusachtige gestalte en een bovenmenselijke kracht werd hij Grutte Pier genoemd.

Clear orange beer, huge aery fizzy creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving come lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of CO2 in the glass, spicy, coriander, grains, different sorts of grains, bit fruity. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, spicy, malty, quite some grains, bit sugary. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, grains, hay, lots of coriander, more spicy.

Murky deep golden colour, huge frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma sweet malt, grain, yeast. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, yeasty, caramel, dough, spicy notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy notes, caramellish, bit boozy. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, nice tripel.

Fles 33cl thuis. 7,5%. EBU 29. Ook bekend als Friese Boezem. Bloemig, bitterje, geel fruittonen, vrij zacht, Belgisch gist, redelijk volle moutige smaak door de havervlokken, hop (Cascade, Saaz). Prima. (23-11-2018).

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Grutte Pier Tripel ].[ Courtesy of flaskefolket ]. Clear medium orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate hoppy - yeast, flowers, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, earthy, tripel yeast, damp stain - fusty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity yeast, flowers, fruity, yeast, earthy - damp stain - fusty, dough. 33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Hazy dark golden with a thin white head. Sweet aroma with some yeast and coriander. Sweet taste. Prickly carbonation and a leatherlike cellar-type undertone. Nice mature tripel

Many thanks to ShivanDragon for this bottle! Smooth sweetish malty beginning. Not much bitterness, easy to drink with a nice round and malty beginning. Belgium yeast, smooth, round and mild. Not too deep, round and smooth, nice.
