At the brewery during GABF week, 2014. Aroma of heavily roasted grain and malt; almost reminds me of a porter. Some chocolate and coffee flavors. Not a ton of hops for an ipa.

Sample at the taproom. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, hops and coffee. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, earthy hops and citrus. The finish is roasty with a dark malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Medium brown and a bit murky, a bit toasty, light chocolate, toasty, a bit thin, light body and the malts on this are kind of basic cocoa.

Tap @ River North. Pours a dark brown appearance with a tan head. Roasted dark malts, some chocolate, somewhat bitter hoppy flavor. I didn’t feel like the flavor completely came together between the roastiness of the dark malts and the bitterness of the slightly piney hops. Some decent qualities but could use a little work.

On the more stout-like end of the spectrum for the style - medium dry and fairly roasty, with quite a bit of char and a light woody note - mild bittersweet chocolate notes and a touch of mineral through the middle - moderate woody hops. - a bit thin - okay.
