Our Dunkel (“Dark”) is a Franconian lager dominated by roasted chocolate and nutty notes. Brewed with darker, imported Munich grain, it finishes pleasantly malty and smooth. Prost!

12 oz can purchased as a single at the Lukas Liquor Superstore in Overland Park, Kansas. Canned on 07/27/2020 per bottom of the can. The pour is a slightly hazed copper brown with a ½ inch off white head. The aroma is clean toasted, softly sweet malt, touch of honey, some nuttiness. The taste is the fresh clean malt of the nose, soft toasted bread, the softly sweet honey and the nuttiness and more of the toast to the finish. The palate is light medium bodied, active carbonation and the clean toast finish. Really well constructed and executed Dunkel, tasty stuff.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Total Wine in CO. Thanks G-unit! Pours a clear red mahogany color with a small beige head and good retention. Fair lacing. Roasted caramel aroma. Light smoky flavor mixed with toasted caramel. Lightly sweet. Low carbonation. Very clean and easy drinking. No bitterness. Very repeatable.

Woody chocolate malt and fresh hay aroma. Dark chestnut brown with moderate but short lasting head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt, and mildly bitter dry wood/hay flavor. Good body. Very nice. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Altfränkisches Dunkel Bier on 12 Jan 2019 at 01:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Tap at the brewery. Brown with orange tints. Clear, with a low head. Light chocolate nose, caramel, bread. Light malty sweetness, bready, with chocolate and caramel, raisins. Not overly sweet. Decent stuff.

12 oz. bottle. Dark, amber brown, with a small, foamy, beige head. Aroma is dark bread, pumpernickel, light cloves, caramel, and a hint of sweet cherries. Sweet and malty, with a light, piney, hop kick. Light to medium body, a little chalky, syrupy, and a clingy, bitter aftertaste. This is a a surprisingly complex, aromatic, and tasty dunkel. Good maltiness and yeast character.

Slightly hazy brown with a thin head. Aroma is a bit funky...footy...touch toasty. Too footy, sewagey. Altfrankisch? Get over yourself.
