Handbottled, at RBESG 2006. An unclear orange beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of minerals amongst them sulphur, but also with strong notes of straw. The flavor is sweet and also with very strong notes of minerals, but also light notes of grass, leading to a slightly acidic and dry finish, which also has some notes of straw lingering around. Very interesting.

Bottled at RBESG-06, GTN. Motelpogo got this hand-bottled at a Lithuanian farm-brewery, and hauled it to Sweden. Thanks Phil. Hazy, orange beer with a white, foamy rim. Cellar, mould, yeast and sour fruit in the aroma. The palate is sour and fruity. Medium body, and a bit astringent finish. Interesting stuff. (060826)

RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Lithuanian farmhouse ale, makeshift bottled (plastic) at the brewery 2 weeks ago. Hazy dark golden to amber colour. Yeasty aroma with very interesting notes of spices (ginger, cloves, cardamom, juniper berries). Sweetish and mildly spicy flavour, notes of bread yeast. Unusual.

(Handbottled plastic bottle 200 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Rustic, slightly tart aroma. Medium body, lightly caramelish with some rustic, tart notes. Hoppy finish. Rather unusual but definitely interesting. Courtesy of motelpogo who dragged this around in his back pack for weeks. 260806

Big plastic bottle@RBESG’06. Orange color, small white head. Juniper like, herbal nose - like in sahti. Crisp, lots of juniper and minerals in the flavor. Bitter aftertaste. Very close to Estonian koduõlu. Wonderful Lithuanian farmhouse ale. Thanks PhilL!

Brewpub in the garage of a small farmhouse on the edge of Pakruojis, not far from the bus station, across from which a nameless bar (noted only by the sign Alus) sells Jovaru Alus. Vyganto has a reddish-amber colour, is cloudy, and has a frothy head. Served from a pin on the bar. Light toffee in the aroma, alongside toast and chocolate. Smooth malty palate - hints of caramel and toast. Slightly minerally, and with a touch of foresty hops for balance. Delicious.
