Aroma of fruits, citrus, floral, soap, grass, hops. Flavour is fruity and grassy with a potent bitter finish. A bit light body, but not distractingly so. Tasty, refreshing Session IPA.

Bottle. Golden color, cloudy. Lovely grass and grapefruit aroma. Hint of melon. Thinnish, but with loads of flavor. Grass, grapefruit, herbal notes. Tropical fruit. A winner!

My second ’session IPA’ and effectively labelled as such. Off-white, initially thick but slowly receding, yet stable, sticky head over a deep orange blonde beer, cloudy with pale, tiny yeast particles floating around here and there, milky and completely shrouded with deposit. Aroma of citrussy ’green’ hops, impressions of grapefruit peel, orange, white bread, coriander, tonic water, hemp, dry white wine, leather, peaches, gooseberries, starfruit, minerals, white pepper, tobacco. Taste reveals a vivid, tingling fruitiness and ’citrusness’, utterly refreshing, with a sharpish, minerally carbonation adding to the refreshment; then a light, elegant caramelly maltiness kicks in along with peppery yeasty spiciness and drying coriander, leading to a long, complex, dry, thirst-quenching hop bitter finish, citrussy, grassy and spicy and even a bit ’biting’; mouthfeel surprisingly full for a beer of only 3,4% ABV. A totally satisfying, light and thirst-quenching summer session beer for hopheads. Love it, even a bit more than the Berghoeve Khoppig I tasted right before this. I’m beginning to love this particular style in much the same way I love ’ordinary’ and double IPAs.

Bottle at home in London - bought at Kris Wines. Pours lightly hazy, deep gold with a large, lasting frothy white head. Nice citrusy hops in the nose, some pine needles, orange rind, wood, toasted grass. The flavor is lightly with toasty pale malts, slight crackery grains, more pine needles, dry and pithy orange rind, hints of hop resin. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes with further piney and toasted grassy hops, restrained bitterness, more toasted pale malt, hints of grapefruit, more orange rind. Pretty clean and direct. Certainly a bit over-carbonated, but as it calms down the beer comes out of its shell a bit.

Bottled from Biernavigatie, BB April 2015 (so prob 2 months old), large sample, poured into a shaker. Slight hazy golden color, big frothy off-white head, leaving some frothy lacing. Aroma of citrus, nelson sauvin, slight hay, coriander, some grapefruit, slight grainy malt. Quite harsh nelson bitterness, but the malt just comes in to keep it from being too astringent. Ofcourse, you gotta like bold bitterness as it is Het Uiltje ofcourse. So, was expecting that and therefore enjoying it. Big, bold, and yet only 3.4%. Awesomeness.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a slightly hazy light amber with a broken bubbly white head and lots of bubbles up front. The aroma is citrus, grassy nettle hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a watery metallic grassy hop bitter palate and a short bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. Nelson Sauvin certainly makes a statement and it totally defines this beer. Serve cool.
