Bigger is better, right? We figured we'd put that adage to the test. So, we decided to take our FBD IPA and make an "Imperial" version of it and that's just what we did. Double Fuzzy is a bit stronger, a bit heavier on the tropical fruit flavors" and hopefully even more pallet-pleasing. Grabbing two is appropriate.

Hops - Citra.

Can from trade with ClarkVV--thanks, Clark! Date on bottom of can is off center so unreadable--I guess I should have read the review to see how old this is! Is ADDITIONAL age likely to have helped it? We shall see...
Cloudy, light brown-dark yellow, a few dark floaties, light sparkle, ample head with excellent retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong citrus and grapefruit with light mango and apricot. Taste is strong citrus and pine, honey malts. Soft carbonation, mostly piney, lightly bitter finish. No sign of alcohol. Compatible with the rest of the NEBCO stable. OK.

Canned 2/12/25, purchased from the brewery 5/1/25 and drunk 5/2 and 5/18/25. Not a great sign that they are selling 2.5 month old IPAs here, but whatever.
It tastes and smells like it's old. More bitterness and acidity in nose and flavor than actual brighter hops notes. Citrus and very minor mango with crusty bread, cracker and hints of caramel. An older school of DIPA, but exacerbated by the age. Will enter the review but commit to getting a fresher sample soon (they just released a new batch last week).

12 oz. can in a trade with Clark, thank you. Aroma is mild grapefruit pith, mango skin, and candied orange. In the flavor of the malt backbone, thankfully isn’t too old school, but does show a little bit of caramel. Perhaps honey. Same fruit that you find in the aroma. Alcohol is hidden and it does drink pretty easily. This pretty much stands the test of time.

Pours hazy straw into a shaker. Head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet honey and pineapple aromas. Thick with sweet, hot honey and mango upfront turning to hot pith in the medium length finish. Done well, but a little too hot for me...
