A wee while ago, 800 members of BrewDog Southampton rocked up to the brewery, ate pizza, drank beer, and helped us smash out our CollabFest 2019 brew!
That brew is Tonkaccino, a 4.8% stout brimming with tonka and coffee flavours.
We'd had this name on the back burner for some time after resident wordsmith, CJ, used it as a placeholder for last year's Sombre Pharos.
It's light, but full of punch, and we're pretty happy with our efforts!
Cheers very much to the folks at Southampton Brewdog for choosing us this year, it's been great fun! Special thanks to Ant who spearheaded this jolly, who recently left the BD family to pursue other goals, good luck matey!

Keg at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. The beer pours very dark brown with a small layer of tan head. Vanilla, corn syrup, some light coffee and the wonderfully elusive tonka bean are on display in the aroma. Taste is sweet, with the sour-umami character of tonka bean woven through, perhaps a little too strongly. Lightly carbonated which gives a little lift to the oily body. Can you have too much tonka? I would've said no until now...

On tap at Brewdog Bristol. Black with beige head. Tonka, coffee, cocoa, solid aroma but watery and bland flavor. Too thin. Light bodied.

Keg at BD Sheps Boost, 21/10/19. Black pour with a moderate tan cap that soon collapses. Nose is light roast, coconut shavings, chocolate, charr. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, ashen tones, cinnamon, roast malts, light coconut, coffee grinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent flavoursome stout.
