Bottle: Poured a Brown with off-white head. Aroma is dirty spice. Taste is bland malt drinking beer. Added note: After reading others reviews this may have been a bad bottle.

Odd this has lower IBUs than regular Uerige much less the sticke. Has a nice colour, though, reddish-brown. Thin head. Caramelly nose up front. Nice lacing. Soft and sweet...totally underhopped for doppelsticke...has some decent earthy caramel like any good alt, but the malts aren’t super complex and the hop rate way too low. People outside Deutschland pretty consistently underestimate what good altbier tastes like; gotta go to Dsseldorf to understand this style.

Draught at the brewery
Dark brown color with very small head.
Caramel aroma, simple. Full bodied; the malt and caramel have a depth rarely seen in recent times, moderately sweet, lean, and with the profile of an Alt, with lingering fruity esters, roasted nuts, but less hopped than the original Doppelsticke.
Very good, honorable effort.

On tap at Bomber, pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, caramel and bready malt. Flavour is very malty, with lots of toasted caramel malt, toasted nuts, and crisp biscuity malt. Anything but an authentic alt (even though fiulijn will lambaste me for not knowing what a true alt is since I haven't been to Dsseldorf), but it's quite tasty.
