Darkness is a beer of fable and legend. Malty and intense, yet velvety smooth. This special edition of our massive Russian imperial stout matured in rye whiskey barrels and brings waves of chocolate, vanilla, dried fruit, and cherry flavors, enhanced by the oak and spice of the barrel.

Only appropriate to also pop the BA, much softer notes but also soft hints of rye and bourbon, vanilla bourbon notes float to the top.

Tasting at Peters, Ystad, Sweden (25/11/2023) - dark sweet and roasted malty with lots of bourbon action, some chocolate and some caramel and toffee malty sweetness, full bodied, bourbon and vanilla coalesce into the dark malty finish.

2021 Vintage. At home on Thanksgiving with the family, Peggy, Henry, and Lena. Virtually black with a frothy, beige head. Aroma full of rye whiskey with fudge undertones. Taste has a mild oak bitterness over a sweet, malty backbone. Full-bodied, mostly mild carbonation. Boozy, whiskey-filled finish. I’d like to see a little less whiskey and a little more of the beer, but this is still pleasant sipping.

Flaska från staterna, 2020. Svart med moccafärgad krona. Toffee, mörk choklad, kakao, lätt fruktighet/bärighet som nästan drar åt viol, fat, Bourbon, snygg lakritston i avslutning. Klassiskt, gott och snyggt!

2023 version. Pours deep brown-black topped by a medium brown head. Aroma potent with roasted malts, coffee, oak, and prune. Body big and sweet, heavy on the prune, with coffee beans and ample oak and bourbon. Soy and honey are present but not overwhelming. A stout the way stouts should be.
