Crisp and pty. Golden pour without much head but strangely some lacing. Empty finish. I guess that's good for a cheap lager. Tap at airport Sun King.

OK, so first off I think that mexicali lagers are not the same as typical pale lagers. Also, light lagers are not the same as pale lagers. Just like IPA, JMHO, there should be a few separate styles for the disrespected pale lagers. This stuff, off the bat, seems to come in at the premium lager style. It lacks the lemon influences so common in the typical mexican pale lagers. So be it. We need to divide up the common pale lagers. They need more respect, more so than the 50 different branches of the IPA styles.

12 oz. can. 4.2% ABV. 24 IBU. Pours a crystal clear light yellow color with a fizzy white head and fair retention. No real lacing. Grainy lager aroma. Crisp grainy lager flavor. Has a bit of a Euro lager light skunk finish. Light body and easy drinking. Unremarkable, but a good summer beer.

can - Clear light gold pour. Malty, grainy aroma. The flavor is sweet and grainy with some corn and a little mild hops bitterness. Light bodied. I guess it's good compared to most of the pale lagers out there, but that's not saying much.

Can. Corn, barley malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with large white head. Mildly sweet corn, barley malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Good body.

Can sent by Sun King for Review. My pour, into an admittedly small sample glass, is light yellow, and with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly. There was a bit of alcohol in the smell at first, but that was during the pour. What’s left is a hint of light malt, what I call the bowling alley beer smell. The taste is indeed crisp, with only enough hop to keep the malt from getting sweet. Yes, it’s like a megabrewed light lager, but a lot of those can show the faults of cheap production, while others will hit the spot under the right circumstances, like a hot summer night (hello, Schaefer Light). It’s not a hot summer night now, and I’m drinking this out of a fridge, but not too cold that I can’t taste it.
