A golden coloured IPA with a slight haze. A strong aroma of banana and cloves with a vibrant flavour of banana and melon. The beer has a very slight acidity from the Belgian yeast and a lasting bitterness.
Fladda Rock’N’Roll is brewed to the same recipe as fladda rock with one big difference, in this beer we have used a Belgian yeast. It is often said that the yeast makes up 20% of the flavour in a beer so we wanted to see how far we could push that. We brought in a special Belgian wheat beer yeast and added it to the brew. The results are superb and give the beer a completely different flavour profile.
Try alongside Fladda Rock for a comparison in taste between the two yeasts.

From cask @ Borefts 2013. A deep blurry golden one with a surprisingly lively white sidesticking head. Smells of Belgian saison yeast and a nice citrus touch. Wet leafs, apricots, some hay and a little bit of ginger makes up the aroma. Not bad. Soft oily in the mouth with a soft prickling carbonation level. Bitter citrus zest, light grapefruit, something sweet almost honey like and a little bit of dry hay in the finish and aftertaste. 28.09.2013

Borefts Beer Festival 2013. Hazy golden with a small white head. Fruity aroma with banana, peach and spices. Fruity sweet flavour with banana, and some phenolic yeasty notes. Quite bitter, hoppy finish. Doesn’t have the clean beauty of the regular Fladda golden ale.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 19th December 2013. Cloudy yellow with diminishing, white lacing foam. Yeasty tangy citric aromas. Grapefruit and orange tang in-mouth with burst of grassiness followed by tangy citric finish with spicy notes on a zingy mouthfeel. Plenty of body. Nice chunky Belgian ale.

Golden colour, white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, light banana. Bitter flavour, banana, sweeter than the regular Fladda Rock. Quite thin body, bitter hoppy finish. More banana, for the rest quite similar to the regular Fladda Rock. Interesting to see the differences between an English yeast and an Belgian yeast.

Cask at Borefts ’13, 27/09/13. Hazed golden orange with a thin off white head. Nose is hoppy, light melon tones, Belgian yeast esters, hint of grapefruit, dank hop backnotes. Taste comprises tarte apricot, Belgian yeast notes, orange pith, light spice, caramel. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Ok Belgian style affair.
