This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a dark hazy brown color with a thin half finger white foamy head that must have stuck for at least a good three minutes. Wow, nice retention. The lacing seemed to be slightly minimal, no worries, it mostly looked good to me.
The smell had a nice malted fruit - pear and granny Smith apples, light clove - like spice. But then a nice sweet citrus came in a nice way.
The taste was sweet with a nice light spice, light apple, and clove spice.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. The carbonation seemed barely there, however, no worries, as this one had a really nice citrus to spice rolling over my tongue in its texture.
Overall, biere de garde, well, I liked it for me, but honestly I haven’t had too many of these. I’d still have this again.

Hazy brownish-amber, aroma is tart, lightly fruity. Tart, muddy malts and a yeasty finish. No idea what they’re going for here. I know BdG is a meaningless style term, but this doesn’t seem close to any BdG I’ve had, so I really didn’t get this one at all.

Bottle thanks to Shig. Shared at weekly tasting. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose/taste of toffee, oak, dark fruit, vanilla and woody oak. Medium body.

Bottled: Poured a murky orange brown with a off white to tan cream head. Get a lot of that oaky wood aroma in the nose. Taste is thick vanilla with nice sweet malts, light alcohol burn and a dry finish.
