Alaskan took its award-winning Troppelbock and increased the intensity by freezing it in the fermentation tank. By taking out some of the resulting ice crystals, the beer gets stronger and more packed full of deep, rich flavor. With a dark brown color and sweet malt character from the combination of Pale, Vienna, Munich, Light Chocolate and other malts - this is the perfect warmer for a cold Alaska January night. Apollo and Hallertauer Magnum hop varieties bring balance to the sweetness, although hop bitterness is very low and hop flavor and aroma are absent. This is a full-bodied beer with cherry notes and rich caramel overtones. Brewed in a small batch for the Alaskan Beer and Barleywine Festival, our Eisbock was available on a limited basis for a few months only in Alaska this past winter, and only on draft.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI on 10/03/2014. Hazy brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes gradually. Strings of lacing on the glass. Malt, ripe fruit and hops in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel, dark fruit and grainy malt. The finish is rich and malty up front with a fruity aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Amber, thin head, fine carbonation. Sweet cookie-candy with mellow orange notes. Rich mellow, cookiesh, and sweet with light fruity character.

She pours a hazy brown and leaves the same colored body with a one finger white foamy head that dies almost immediately. There is some spider web lacing. The smell is mostly brown sugar up front with a delicate dose of malty raisons trying to come through. The taste is basically sweet all the way through with a sweet sugary aftertaste with a dry sweet finish.
On the palate, she sits about a medium on the body and tries to show a sessionable aspect as the ABV is felt or tasted at all. Carbonation seems to be a tad higher for an Eisbock, but not bad to me.
Overall, this is a good beer, perhaps a nice night cap if anything.

Draft thanks to Savnac for pointing it out at GABBF: Poured dark brown with zero head. Very sweet aroma of malt. Taste was so sweet sugar and malt that it made my teeth hurt.
