Bottle. Deep brown body. Frothy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, funk, horse blanket, leather. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The porter roast is punctuated with acidic funkiness, like a sour/porter blend. Taste of leather and burnt malts, raw rain and vinegar. Sounds unappealing, but it works. Interesting beer.

Pours ebony into a tulip. Toasted marshmallow and chocolate aromas. Dry with sweet dark caramel and chocolate upfront turning to mildly sour pit fruit in the medium length finish.

Bottle for Bier Koning. Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of fruit, raisins, chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and wild yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and sour, light bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very strange, but not unpleasant change from the 3 fonteinen Iβm used to.

Bottle at HaandFestival 2012. An unclear, dark brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma is mostly roasted with some chocolate, a touch of lemon juice and a little funky brett-touch. Itβs roasted and sourish in the flavor, with some chocolate and a touch of hops. Lightly funky too, and with some bitterness towards the end. Dry, medium body and a nice carbonation level. A very refreshing and tasteful beer, could even do well as a lawnmower beer. 120505

Bottle at the Cask, Pimlico - 23/08/12. Dark black with a decent tan head. Brett dominates the nose allied to a little yeast and burnt sugars. Dark fruits in the taste, funk, brett, a little woody. Medium bodied with highish carbonation and a bitter finish.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark brown with a moderate tan head. Moderate sour aroma with chocolate and coffee notes. Med body. Flavor is quite tart. Chocolate, coffee and apparently wood play in. This is sour in moderation. Finishes moderately sour with smooth burnt malt, darkish chocolate, hint of coffee.

Tap. Pours dark reddish-brown with a medium creamy tan head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is bretty with roasted malt and coffee notes. Taste is also bretty, mildly sweet caramel roasted malts, some tartness coming on in the middle, leading to a lemony tart finish. Fairly light bodied for the color and style. Frankly I think this is a Belgian ale, not a porter.

Medium brown head. Hazy nearly opaque deep dark brown body. Earthy roasty caramelly aroma with funky chalky notes. Dry-sweetish and slightly acidic earthy vinegary caramelly taste with metallic notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish-acidic earthy vinegary chocolate aftertaste with funky fruity citric notes. Nice, but unusual and challenging. (0.33l bottle shared by Ole_R.)

Re-rate 6/16: Bottle sample at a tasting at Maxβs place. Thanks Lior D. Roast, fruitiness, brett. Sourish, a bit sweetish. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4
Bottle shared at the 3rd Israeli Sour Tasting. Very dark brown to black-colored with a light brown head. Roasty aroma with some coffee and some brett. Sourish flavor with light sweetish notes, somewhat funky, with roastiness, light soy sauce hints and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. Not bad. 74/6/3/13=3.3
