Keg at Slowbeer, Melbourne, Victoria. Cloudy pale amber, small head. Bready grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Caramelly malt, bread and grapefruit, then a smashingly bitter finish. Much more bitterness than aroma.

Not terrible by any means, but was definitely hoping for more from such a highly rated DIPA. Perhaps it had sat on the shelf a little too long because the hops weren’t the freshest in the world. More bready malt than I would like, this was more of a supped up English IPA than a true hop bomb.

500ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Orangey amber colour, off-white foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of caramel, orangey citrus hop & pine. Taste is sweetish malt caramel with fruity tangerine, orange, pine, hoppy resiny earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering bitter finish. Very drinkable DIPA.

Draught @ CBC2013. Final CBC rating in my backlog, phew! Pours clear deep reddish golden with a big frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity with crackers, chives, grapefruit juice, pine needles, freshly cut grass, alcohol, mango, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, star fruit, passion fruit, leek, resinous wood and soil. Taste is very bitter and slightly malty with crackers, bread, freshly cut grass, pine needles, moist soil, resinous wood, chives, mango, pineapple, star fruit, passionfruit, pink grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest and hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, tiny boozy, slightly round, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and tiny fruity with crackers, grass, pineapple, star fruit, pine needles, soil, alcohol, bread, mango, grapefruit rinds, lemon zest, chives and resinous wood. Good but the chives and leek sadly takes over a little too much for my tastes.

Bottle 50 cl at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2013 (Haket), Sunday, sampled on September 8, 2013. Label marked 8.8%.Hazy golden color, small white head. Sweet, hoppy, alcohol, herbal scent. Sweet, herbal, bitter taste. Bitter, chili aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, caramel, light hoppy, roange - citrus, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, wood- barrel, dark citrus, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130118]

Pours deep gold into a shaker. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Resin and tropical fruit aromas. Soft and creamy with hot toffee upfront turning to pine in the lasting earthy bitter finish.
