Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a glow and a super opaque, almost black coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan and light-brown coloured body with a nice lace on the sides of the glass as it fades. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, light pitted fruits, some raisins and figs with a light dose of lactose and cream noticeable along with some tart cherry notes as well, at least in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong tart cherry and softer fruit flavours show at first with the pitted fruits and light sweetness here along with a good deal of roasted notes and some bread and grain as well with dry fruity quality and some softer chocolate elements, especially towards the end. Aftertaste shows the light creaminess with some light lactose notes, but a lot of lighter fruits such as the cherries and raisins all noticeable and a soft sweetness with some lactose here, but also some chocolate, but the oatmeal and roasted malts are strongest at the end. Overall, a very nice and robust, slightly tart and soured beer with the cherries the reason here, with some deep malts and small dose of alcohol, but that's all good for keeping you warm in the wintertime in Alaska. I sampled this tall, 19,2 ounce can, purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 05-October-2021 for US$4,25 sampled at my house here on the other side of the country in Washington on 23-October-2021.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is dark chocolate and roast. Medium mouth, very sweet, chocolate malt, roast, lingering dry finish, good.

Medium brown, thick head. Not much nose but a rich, nourishing malty stout with mellow hop bitterness and balanced roast/chocolate taste.

Bottle received in trade from BeerKangaroo, thanks for the opportunity and a great trade! Pours a solid dark brown/ black color with a huge khaki head that persists forever leaving a moderate amount of lace on the sides. Aromas of chocolate and roast with a decent amount of burnt caramel and earthy hop in there. A touch of oxidation in there, but that could be from the damaged cap upon shipping, and it really doesn’t detract much anyhow. The flavor is rich roasty and chocolate up front. Bits of caramel and dark dried fruits and a touch of earthen crusted hops round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a silky creamy smooth mouthfeel. Pretty damn good oatmeal stout right there in my glass, so glad I got to try this.

Reviewed from notes. Consumer November 3rd, 2013.
Into a pint glass.
She pours jet black and leaves the same colored body with a one finger foamy off white head that leaves some nice foamy lacing in rings.
The smell is roasty, nutty, and has some strong coffee beans.
The taste has bitter coffee yet also slightly roasty and nutty, bitter coffee aftertaste, super dry finish.
On the palate, its about a medium of sorts and comes across somewhat sessionable, carbonation feels right for the style and for me, decent harshness invading the mouth and tongue, but honestly I say it cuts just right.
Overall, this is a good oatmeal stout that I would have again, especially for the fact that it held up this long, which means I definitely would try again fresher, quite possibly the best one by Kassik’s (I knew there was a reason why I kept trying their stuff).

Bottle: Poured a dark black brown with a thick creamy light brown head. Aroma is full on sweet chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is sweet dark chocolate, roasted malts, light hops that work well to balance the sweetness. Very nice to enjoy on International Stout Day 2012.
