Slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a dense, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light earthy malt, yeast, fresh hops, resin, alcohol, pine and a bit of caramel - not too pungent on the nose. Full-bodied; Dense malty and caramel mouthful with a lot of earthiness, some resin and pine flavours coming from the hops and a metallic and almost medicinal finish at the end. Aftertaste shows a good balance of malt and hops, but a bit too heavy and earthy at the end - tastes almost like a traditional ale or a rye-based IPA. Overall, nice to try, as all beers from Midnight Sun are (especially when consumed back on the polar opposite side of the US) but not as great as some others from this series. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from La Bodega in Anchorage, Alaska on 23-May-2013 for US$7.95 sampled at home in Washington, a few days before returning back to Alaska.

Nice looking 22oz bomber courtesy of SHIG. It pours with a slightly hazy copper body and gold edges supporting a light tan head. The aroma offers up pine hop infused malts, floral hops and spicy flowery perfume counter. The taste is a mix of resiny pine hops and flowery flower shop. To midway it is pretty much resiny bitter hop goodness but with loads of floral going on as well. Overall this is too floral for my taste.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly restrained for a hop bomb, with notes of resinous hops, crackery malts, some biscuity notes and a bit of candied sugar. Flavour is quite crackery and biscuity in its hop notes, undoubtedly due to the Falconer Flight hops, creating a hay-like feel / taste referenced in the name. There is some very mild residual sugar further back, but by the time they come out, the hay-like hop bitterness comes back to finish of the palate. There is also some weird vegetal quality in there. Quite dry, with a medium astringency. Decent stuff, but not a fan of this hop variety.

Bottle: Poured a copper orange amber color with fluffy fast evaporating beige head. Aroma is light hops and bubblegum. Taste is a very edgy hops bitter that leaves the tongue very dry.

Draught @ City Beer, San Francisco

Pours dark reddish with a small head. Aroma of caramely sweetish malts, floral hops, exotic fruits and grass. Taste is sweet and malty with floral and grassy hops, hints of pine and lemon. Finish is malty and caramely with sweetish notes. Hints of floral hay hops. Okay, quite malty IIPA.
