Our coffee stout is a full bodied, rich stout that supports the espresso character of the coffee. We use 1.5 lbs of Sumatran coffee per barrel. Rich and toasty, the flavor leads with coffee and follows with underlying notes of chocolate, caramel, and dark fruit. Cheers!

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a medium, dense, tan head. The aroma is black coffee, caramel and roasted malts. The flavor is sweet, with a little roasted bitterness. The palate is medium, a little sticky, and smooth. Samuel Adams never fails to deliver the flavor advertised. This beer tastes like coffee. Nothing noteworthy or outstanding, but still a solid coffee stout.

A credible coffee stout but lagging behind quite a few others. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy dark brown head that lingered and left some lacing. The aroma was bitter, tangy and roasty with moderate coffee and vanilla. The flavor was creamy vanilla, coffee, cocoa, cola and a touch of anise. Medium finish. A bit thin in body but silky. Decent.

Bottle thanks to burg326: Poured a black with red hazy, light tan head. Aroma is coffee bean. Taste is roasted with cheap keurek style espresso packet flavor.

Holy crap, I didnt see this one coming. Maybe my expectations are so low for Sam Adams that this is so far over them I cant help rating it high. Smooth, creamy, coffee and roasted malts. Just absolutely one of the highlights of the christmas beer season for me.

Pours pretty much black with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of black coffee and chocolate malt. Medium-bodied with a roasty coffee character and notes of malt and dark chocolate. The finish is mildly bitter with a lingering espresso aftertaste. A beer that only a coffee lover would truly enjoy. Pretty enjoyable all around.

Very coffee like in smell and presentation. Taste is the same. Not as overpowering as most coffee beers I’ve had and perhaps this is why its rated simply as a stout. Big black pour with little if any head. Yes, certainly coffee. A little more enjoyable than the typical coffee impy stouts even tho it does approach 6%, it hides the alky fairly well. Finish is of course, bitter coffee black and lingers a while. A little stronger than I would think it would be for this style.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into an English Pint. Pours black with about a finger of thick dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and rich milk chocolate. Taste is..Holy Coffee Batman! Dark bitter coffee with a small bit of chocolate. Medium bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a very long, very bitter coffee finish. Overall, very good. I would love to drink this again. It would go great with bacon and eggs in the morning.

Wynkoop Parade of Darks 2011. Black appearance with a brown head. Moderate coffee aroma that isn’t completely overdone like so many coffee stouts these days. There’s also the roasty chocolate malts and cocoa. Really smooth, moderate espresso, light caramel, chocolate, cocoa flavor. Really nice drinking beer.

bottle, thanks Chris, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is big bitter cocoa and coffee with an underlying layer of smoked malts. Flavor is semi sweet cocoa, burnt malts, big coffee notes in the finish with lingering roast. Very well done.
