Our coffee stout is a full bodied, rich stout that supports the espresso character of the coffee. We use 1.5 lbs of Sumatran coffee per barrel. Rich and toasty, the flavor leads with coffee and follows with underlying notes of chocolate, caramel, and dark fruit. Cheers!

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a pure pitch dark black colored body with a creamy light brown head that disappeared fairly quickly, quick sliding lacing.
The smell had dark roasted malts, smokey coffee and just a hint of chocolate.
The taste had a roasty coffee flavoring that lingers for a while, chocolate comes out as it warms a bit.
The palate was about a medium, fairly sessionable, mild watery sweet aftertaste and finish.
Overall, I’m thinking Sam Adams did what they wanted to do with this one, chocolate and coffee, as for me, yeah, I’d have it again.

Nitro draft @ Thirsty Moose for a Tap Take-over on 18 October, 2012. Excellent nose of fresh warm coffee and roasted malts. Medium-bodied with a richly infused coffee bean character. Flavors of caramel, chocolate powder and a weak, fruit type hop. I truly enjoy the lingering coffee blended with the sweet roasted malts. I can tell the coffee bean was a higher quality, it really shows. Glad I had this on Nitro, so good I ordered another. Lip-smacking good. Could drink this all night.

12 ounce bottle thanks to someone who put this in the fridge! Pours a murky dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma is light roast and coffee. The flavor is a big coffee beer with light caramel and light toasted malts. Pretty good.

bottle - Pours very dark brown and smells of the expected coffee and dark roast malt. The flavor is roasty and well balanced with a good, solid body and nice coffee character. Overall it’s a pretty good coffee stout though not a remarkable one.

Bottle sample at a Samuel Adams tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Very dark brown to black with a pretty, light brown head. Roasty aroma with lots of coffee beans and a bit of dark chocolate. Sweetish roasty flavor, slightly acidic, with lots of coffee. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a slightly thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, caramalised sugars and a bit of metal tucked in. Medium-bodied; Nice roasted malt flavour at first with some lighter coffee flavours behind and some strong offensive earthy and pungent flavours behind. Aftertaste shows some alcohol, a touch of the coffee and mostly lactic malty flavours. Overall, an okay beer, but the combination from Sam Adams doesn’t work well for me, and I found it a bit too thin and underwhelming on the malt and coffee front. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from the Christmas sampler in Winter 2011-2012 from a friend’s house on 17-February-2012.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with reddish tints showing through. Has a small beige head that falls pretty quickly into a ring of foam. Aroma is nice and espresso-ish, a bit grainy. Taste is mostly sweet with a hint of sour and a faintly dry bitter finish. Carbonation is average and the mouthfeel is creamy. Really tasty stuff here.
