Een rijk en verwarmend bier voor de donkere dagen. Zoetige mout en kandij suiker met tonen van karamel en zoethout. Vrij lange, kruidige afdronk.

Mistakenly ordered the 750ml: going to be a long night... Another volcanic ale, waiting for the head to go down... Nice dark red with a strongly lacing head. Not a very strong nose on this: maybe it's the persistent head that's suppressing it. Dark malts, sweetness, liquorice, dried fruits. Very boozy taste in the mouth and in the throat. Dark malts, raisin, dark fruitcake, liquorice in the mouth. Long lingering aftertaste. Good

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a very dark brown colour with a medium sized thick creamy beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel and a little warming alcohol. Taste has lots of plums, more dry dark fruits and more caramel. Nicely balanced. Full bodied with average carbonation. Very nice Christmasy beer.

In spirit of Christmas ale thread pick this up. Rich mahogany and a beige fingers worth is suds. Nose is bready, dried fruits and caramel. Pm tastes of caramel, fig, cherry, sourdough, plum, brandy, light spicing. Chewy mouthfeel

Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, caramel, burned sugar, spicy and herbal notes, light sweet, medium bitter. Medium body, malty caramel spicy bitter finish. Ok.

0.25 bottle, 8.1%, no idea where I got it from (back o' the fridge) but it's not even expired. Medium brown, big and very fine-bubbled head. Fat and complex malty-sweet nose, bready and nutty. The taste is really wondrous with a big and melted-together mix of light roast notes, chewy artisan bread, biscuit, brown sugar, and just a hint of the high-alcohol hidden beneath. Aftertaste is pretty neutral, light bitterness without a lot of hop flavor. Excellent Belgian!
