Cloudy orange brown color, thick off-white head, tiny particles. Aroma is cheesy, fruity orange, spicy. Sweet yeasty and spicy taste, quite complex. Lasting palate. Nice brew.

Dark beer with a musty, fruity and dense aroma. The flavour is generally very dense and fruity with a general light Belgian undertone. Overall a pleasant Belgian strong ale that tastes very light.

Rating #900:
Orange/Copper/Amber colour body with a perfect dense off-white head that leaves a really nice lace. Aroma of citrus, hops, oranges, coriander seed, cherries, slightly herbal...but VERY nice! Medium-bodied; Herbal, Woody, Spicey bite to the taste, with more of a drying oak flavour than any of the aformentioned fruits! Very complex in aroma and flavour...but definately expected with the brewery! Aftertaste is dark and spicey, but also having a slight tartness. Overall, this beer is exactly how I imagined it would be...a great way to celebrate #900! I bought this 75 cL bottle at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York and sampled it on 14-December-2003, the day the world heard that Saddam Hussein was captured by the United States.

(draught)Orange-amber; white rim. Flowery nose, citrus-orange, hops and herbal. Taste with bog-myrtle, herbal, faint citrus as limequat; traces of maltsugars retronasal, as well as piney. A bit thinnish mouthfeel, really. More than OK, but it misses the Fantôme magic of their better bottles.

I've had access to this for a while, but after having a horrible experience with their Noel, I was afraid to try it. I'm glad I decided to give Fantome another chance. gold/copper in color with a decent, frothy head - aroma is slightly tart, with apples and grapes - tastes like gingerbread, biscuits, chocolate - slight dry roastiness - very smooth finish - spicy, slightly pepery - probably the best Saison I've yet had.

If a 6 existed for the appearance, it would be for this one, that I poured in a giant glass of the original Cuvee de l'Ermitage.
Cloudy brown-amber color; rocky, giant, persistent, creamy head.
Very nice malt aroma, pretty barley-wine like, with a very nice freshness at the end, given by the hop and the spices (coriander, almost turning to black pepper); very good Belgian woody example.
The body is pretty much equilibrated, being enough malty, bitter and complemented by some pleasant sourness which makes of it more appropriately a Fall beer than a Winter one; some citrus fruits acidity at the end, introducing a final much similar to a orange peel bitterness.

Hazy, vibrant cherry with perfect foam. I have to use the word vibrant to describe bright colours because some dumbass decided "bright" was a cute way to say "clear" and now bright forever shall refer to clarity rather than intensity of colour. Fresh yeasty aroma - leather, sweat, cherry, glazed pear flan, styrians (?). Starts with juicy malts, kindling, sandalwood incense (unburnt), warming alcohol underneath, plus dashes of dried apricots, fresh bread, prunes. Dry palate - minerally, finish both alcoholic and hoppy but not too much of either. Like the Wolnzacher Hell I had a few days ago, this beer is beautifully subtle - nothing clubs you over the head but you know immediately that you're drinking kick ass beer.
