Cask at the Hour Glass, High Wycombe. Poured amber-brown with a thick cream head. Malt and caramel from the off, but theyβre not too sweet; leafy hops balance, and some lemon comes through afterwards. Mellow, smooth and easy-drinking. Quite a decent autumn ale, better than the similar Greene King Fireside Iβd had just before.

Bottle. Copper coloured beer with a strong very slightly off white head. The aroma is mildly toffee, and the flavour is bitter with maltiness and toffee'ness. Overall a reasonable bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Medium creamy offwhite head. Clear brown body. Floral earthy strawy aroma. Dry-sweet dusty strawy caramel taste with wooden grainy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish floral dusty strawy aftertaste with roasty grainy notes. Lovely. Subtle, vivid and highly drinkable. (0.284l cask at The Duke of York, Whitby.)

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, nutty, caraml, chocolate notes, light toffee. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, malty, dusty chocolate notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130406]

Clear amber beer with a thick frothy head. Aroma is malt and strong caramel. The taste follows suit, though with an odd sour tang on the tongue, too, which slightly spoiled it for me. Pleasant enough but nothing memorable.
