Troubadour Obscura is a mild dark red-brown beer with a balanced Belgian twist. Immediately after the first sip of this beer, the difference with other Belgian dark beers becomes apparent. The solid taste of malt originates from the combination of four different malts used in the brewing of this beer. Discover all the different notes: chocolate, coffee, vanilla…

Bottle at Quinns. Dark brown, almost black colour with big fluffy beige creamy head. Not a big aroma, bit of rich chocolate creaminess. Taste is very biscuit malty, touch of bitterness at the end. Bit of milkiness, bit of chocolate. Slightly herbal. Nice. Smooth in the smooth. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Troubadour Obscura on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Bottle: Caramel and coffee aroma. Sweet with roasted malt, apple, coffee and plum. A bit thin with some alcohol. Odd mix of a sweet stout and an imperial stout. Tap: Cafe Morshuis Albergen. Mocha aroma and flavor. Roasted malt, grapes. Mon Cheri cherry chocolates. Very good!

33cl bottle on 4th July 2019, sat outside De Zandloper, Brugge. Not the best idea on a warm sunny afternoon maybe, but it helped me sleep later! Poured a lovely rich dark colour, off-white/beige topping. Malty from start to finish with chocolate notes to the fore in both the aroma and taste. Can't believe I hadn't rated it (which is the real reason I tried it in the sun and not in front of a roaring fire in winter).

Uit een flesje in Den Hoorn, Texel. Diepbruine kleur, lichtbruin schuim. In aroma en smaak veel caramel, iets te veel. Wel een goede volle smaak.

Bottle. Pours a dark nut brown colour with a big beige head. Aroma of raisins, brent sukker, spices, forest floor, rye bread and leather. Malty flavour with rye bread, raisin, caramel, licorice and some coffee and roasted malt in the end. Has a slick mouth feel, medium to full body, and a light bitterness. Well-balanced, sweet and lightly roasted.

330ml bottle. Pours a murky dark ruby with a large, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, bread, caramel, plum, fig, raisin, earth and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, cherry, plum, raisin, coffee and light spice in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced and enjoyable.
