A Best Bitter brewed in a traditional Sussex style using extra pale Concerto, Crystal and Chocolate malts with East Kent Goldings hops. Typical of Dark Star ales, the Best Bitter relies on the heavy-handed addition of aromatic hops late in the boil.

Cask at Akurrat. Felt very nice go have a classic bitter on cask in Sweden and it looks gorgeous and tastes of home. Nothing remarkable in it but a good staple from dark star.

Cask at Beer Hunters, Pori. Nut brown color, small steady off-white head. Nutty nose with light spicey hops. Light-bodied. Flavour is also nutty malty with good woody-earthy hops in the aftertaste. Hints of chocolate but not so much sweetness in the flavor. Even hints of sourness mentioned in the previous rating. Easy but reasonably hoppy

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - toffee and light biscuit. Taste - more of the same. The toffee becomes a bit too sweet after a point. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish though it could be fresher. Overall - solid if a bit too sweet.
