Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an opaque brown with a massive and frothy beige head leaving some lacework. Heavy phenolic aroma. Thin body, subtle roast, vanilla and dry phenols. Some overripe plums. Ends dry. 251211

[Cask at Milton Keynes Beer Festival 2011] Dark brown, loose beige head. Deep, dry roast & smoke with lots of hop presence - pine flavour particularly prominent. Almost more like a very weak black IPA than a mild. Wonder if they’ve changed the recipe, as it seems different to other people’s ratings here?

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt combined with light notes of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and soy sauce as well as lighter notes of nuts, leading to a dry finish.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, earthy - damp stain notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, watery thin flavor. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100805]

A brown-ruby shade to a very dark body. A few bubbles floating on top of a shiny surface. Dark roasted malts to the nose. Taste of dark malts with an acid touch. Thin on the swallow. Half pint, cask, well kept at Wenlock Arms, London 29 Sep 10.

(Gravicask at Brew Wharf, Southwark, London, 3 Aug 2010) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dried fruit, toasty malt and chocolate. Malty, slightly fruity taste with raisins, prunes, roasted malt and wort. Slightly citric finish. Light body, balanced sweetness. A decent mild.

Cask@The Bree Louise. Deep ruby colour, small head. Aroma is roasted malts, some earth, mild herbs as well as some spicyness. Flavour is roasted malts, dark berries, some mild wood and mild liquorice.
