BOTTLE 50 CL.
The aroma is light like that of most English bitters, still interesting: fruity lollipop sweetness, some soapy fresh pumpkin aldehydes and oily fruity seeds. The flavour is a bit simpler: light fruit sweetness, well toasted biscuits and herbal hops with a light but harsh bitterness.

Medium amber color, bubbly head. Soft, simple nose, some caramel and earthy hops. Not much going on.Malty flavor, some caramel, earth minerals, Rather bland altogether. Not bad, but boring.

500ml bottle: BBD 30 Jun 15, poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard on 14 Sep 14. Nice looking brew, chestnut red, clear and clean, deep creamy textured off-white head. Malty molasses fill the nose, the lightly roasted maltiness has toffee and caramel notes. Those malty flavours mentioned in the aroma come through loud and clear in the taste too. My sweet tooth liked this beer a lot. Body could have been richer and deeper, but the beer was not weak or watery, just not as heavy as the maltiness initially suggested.

Bought from local Costcutters, consumed in the comfort of my own dwelling while watching Germany v Ghana. An unattractive beer, light reddish brown with lots of carbonation. A pleasant aroma of berries, toast and wood. Taste is straightforward bittersweet from start to finish. Tasty enough but incredibly simple. Watery palette. Just ok, nothing special. Typical of Marston’s beers these days unfortunately.

500ml bottle from local supermarket. Clear ruby red colour with a small off-white head. Sweet malt, and mild hop aroma. The flavour is mild hops, and sweetish malt.

(bottle) Clear, deep amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Mildly toasted and delicately ashy malty aroma with notes of caramel, berries and a whiff of spicy hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Berry-fruity accents, mixed up with caramel and discreetly hoppy spicy; almost dry bitter-sweet finish with ashy notes and caramel. Rather mediocre. 12.III.14

Bottle, stable long lasting creamy head, clear and a little dark copper colour, aroma hoppy herbs, some caramel and bread, flavour of dark caramel, bready maltiness and a herbal and a touch citrusy bitteeness, dry and suprisingly hoppy, medium bodied. Quite good.
