Thx! for sharing. Sampled draft @ BAF 2015. Deep amber, small white head. Nose is sweet herbal, sugary, pine, weird, smells a bit like wort, sticky sweet. Taste is oddly sweet, sugary, vanilla, rye, bread, watery, under-fermented, wort,… Syrupy & watery mess. A complete mess, almost taste like it still needs to fermented, less fun than drinking wort but no too dissimilar really. A real mess like the other version. This needs more time to ferment. Apparently this was fermented in a bourbon barrel (not entirely sure as to what that means, did they just pour wort in a bourbon barrel & added yeast?) but maybe that is a bad idea? Not a fan at all of this one or the other versions.

On tap at Kaapse Brouwers. Hazy orange color with nice white head and good lacing. Sweet simcoe hops, mostly fruity aroma. Taste is bittersweet, heavy residual sweetness, and with a punchy body. Doesn’t feel like 10.5 ABV though. Just the right amount of carbonation. A solid Double IPA!

On tap Kaapse Brouwers, Rotterdam, Saturday 14th March 2015 in company of Dad & Barry If someone had of told me that this was a coffee milkshake (appearance) I would would have believed them, because to be honest for a beer this ain’t no looker. You cannot see through it, it’s a milky brown colour with a large off-white frothy head. Soft in the mouth it’s both sweet and fabulously hoppy, a lengthy bittersweet finish, the Simcoe hops are singing and the barrel ageing has softened it. A8 A1 T8 P5 Ov15 3.7
