Seven is a nod to the great stouts brewed in 19th century London. Lots of roasted malt and grassy English hop character on the nose, followed by notes of bitter chocolate, toast, coffee, liquorice and dried fruit. Full bodied but dry, the powerful bitter finish just keeps going.

Creamy, frothy beige head stayed well on a near black still body. Bitter berries, malt & demerara aroma. Medium bodied with a clean, fresh, lightly carbonated feel & a cloying back. Very dry. Bitter hops, bitter berries, iron, malt, licorice & aniseed tastes followed by a long tangy finish.

(Draught at Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green, London, 25 Nov 2016) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, dark bread, caramel and toast. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, roasted malt, crisp-bread, hints of rye and a balanced roasty bitterness. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Bottled. Very deep brown, close to black, colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, some nutty notes as well as mild wood and some toasted malts to it. Flavour is rather similar in a very pleasant balance. In a way quite easy going, but yet rather filled with taste, and actually rather easy to drink.
