Bottle.Nose is butterscotch, with pronounced herbs and cut cut grass, slight nuttiness in the back end. Surprisingly appealing. Taste is butter scotch, a touch of burnt toffee, leading to berry, and an earthy malt and bitterness, with the faintest citrus rind in the finish. It seems only passingly related to the nose. Slight metallic off-note Mouthfeel is far too carbonated. This beer is classic supermarket mush, and it’s marked down for smelling nothing like it tastes.

50cl bottle from Tesco’s, Camberley. Golden amber with a billowing white head; slightly musty floral aroma; fresh tasing with a immediate floral bitterness, then a soft honeyed sweetness; before a herbal bitter finish. A nicely rounded bitter.

A copperbrown beer with a medium and blond head. The nose has caramel and nutty maltyness, wood and some lemon. Taste is quite dry and quite strongly hopped, bread, nuts, wood and some fruity nuancees. The end is dry, bitter and long. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, drinkable. Strongly hopped bitter, but the aromatics hops are almost hidden. Anyway, the strong bitterness is always great.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 09/2015
Aroma is mellow and quite simple with toffee typical to English ales. Flavour has toffee, grapefruit, some minerals and grass. Quite aggressive hop profile for a bitter – but I like it.

Cask at the Brasshouse; clear amber pour with a luxurious creamy off white head, crisp malt aroma, taste has light biscuity malts, with some hints of dark fruit, creamy mouthfeel, light bitter finish, I understand why CAMRA declared this the best beer in Britain but they’re ignoring a shit load of the market. Oakham Citra prevails.

Cask at the Solihull CAMRA festival 2014. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a lovely smooth woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A decent session beer but I’m not sure what all the fuss is about.
